The US National Highway Traffic Safety Administration (NHTSA) said there was no evidence that the death toll of the Tesla accident in Florida in May 2016 was caused by the Autopilot automatic piloting system. The "acquittal" eliminates potential obstacles to the development of autopilot technology.
Earlier, according to Reuters, the accident victims Joshua Brown driving Tesla MODELS and enable Autopilot automatic assisted driving when a car accident killed. July 2016, NHTSA survey found that Brown's car at the time of the incident to 119km / h (74mph) speed limit 105km / h (65mph) on the road, and the day of the incident was fine weather, good visibility.
Ideally, the Autopilot will automatically travel along the road with minimum driver involvement, maintain distance from other vehicles and automatically change lanes as appropriate. However, some owners have been photographed over-riding the AID system, creating a risk for the accident, which has led Tesla to reinforce the technology and temporarily disable the autopilot support system if the driver does not respond to the warning.

The latest Tesla models have a better sensor, processor, etc., already have the hardware to achieve automatic driving the foundation. If the NHTSA declares Tesla defective to be recalled, it will not only be Tesla, but also many auto-related companies. The recall may lead to a reassessment of security measures, and NHSTA may introduce new regulations accordingly.
